Malaysia Day Family Fun Run At Run For National Unity 2016

The whole family ran as a team on Malaysia Day and we had lots of fun all throughout the morning. ^^
The running event was organised by HELP University, Malay Mail and Redberry with the technical support by FTKLAA and several categories were offered:
  • Men Open
  • Women Open
  • Muhibbah Group (4 adults and must have of 1 Malay, 1 Chinese and 1 Indian participants)
  • Family (2 adults and 1-3 children aged 5 - 14 with one child below 12-years old)
  • Corporate group
  • Special (OKU)

For us, we joined the family category which was supposed to be 5K but due to some unforeseen circumstances and the fact that many families consisted of children below the age of 12, the organiser had to change the route and we were informed that we needed only do 3K.

The morning started with a heavy downpour not only at our home but also the race venue. The flag-off for the 7K (Men & Women were delayed) but I'm not sure about the rest. We stayed in our car until 15 minutes after 8.00am before finally making our way to Padang Merbuk where the race venue was located.

There were still a number of runners milling about in the rain at the race venue and some were taking shelter under the tents.
We decided to just run seeing that the rain had turned into a drizzle and started our run 30 minutes past 8.00 am. Less than 23 minutes later, and after covering 3.3K; we finished our run.
The waiting area for team categories about 50mtr in front of the finish line.

At least 3 team members need to finish together to get their timing and placing (applicable to top 3 teams lah, because those who finished later could just go ahead and collect their medals and participation certificate from the officials tents).

We stayed put at the race venue after our run and waited for the lucky draw session with some friends.

Generous prizes were offered - a Gold Coast package, 2 treelectrik e-bike, Ice watches and some Brooks vouchers. Alas, no win for us. Booohooohooo

Despite the rain (or because of the rain?) we had an enjoyable run and a fun time not only with each other but with friends who were there too.

    1. A family time is always good, regardless of the type of activities spent, right? ;)
