Asam Pedas For Dinner In Melaka

We arrived in Melaka on the eve of the new year for a night run in Hatten Neon Nite Run just shortly after 4.00pm.

After checking-in and resting, we decided to head out for a quick dinner somewhere nearby the hotel before our run that night.
We walked towards the Pahlawan Walk Market (Newton Food Court) and after passing a few stalls and restaurants around the area, decided to try the Asam Pedas JR.
We got ourselves a table and Hubby proceeded to head to the counter to place order and make payments.

Service was fast. Hubby was still ordering our drinks when our order arrived.
First came the rice, with salted egg and a slice of cucumber.
Then the asam pedas pari (stingray) served in kuali (wok).
A few minutes later, our plate of mussels arrived. We saw a number of tables ordering this so we decided to give it a try.

A wok of pari and a plate of mussels plus three rice came to RM29.00. Not bad lah.

It was a unanimous that the mussels were nicer than the pari for us. :)

We later walked back to our hotel but before that, we stopped at the Dataran Pahlawan field to check out the preparation for the night's run, bumped into fellow runners before going up to our room to change into our running gear.

We had a nice dinner and later a nice run. A good day for us. :-)

  1. Wow! Yummy! Assam pedas is always my favourite as they have this sourish & appetizing oomph!
I am amazed that the hawkers could provide faster services than many big restaurants. Hope your family had a good time there.

  4. Can see the spiciness of the asam pedas. So red!

I love sting ray especially in curry or grilled with sambal. Not so in asam pedas. I also like mussels. Hehe.
