He wasn’t happy….

when we told our son last week that we probably wouldn’t be able to come for his religious school year-end prize giving ceremony on Nov 16. We told him that his grandfather could attend on our behalf instead because Zaini is working that day and I have a meeting to attend. But looking at his disappointed face, I think I’ll probably just run out from the office for a couple of hours to go to his school and cheer him up and quickly return to office before the scheduled meeting. After all, not every student can get first placing in their class right?

He sulked again yesterday. We were informed yesterday that his primary school prize-giving ceremony (or what is called Hari Anugerah Cemerlang in Malay) is to be held this Saturday. How can we attend it when we are going to Penang on Friday after picking up his report card? Sometimes, I wish the teachers at his school would tell us parents if and when any events are to be held at school in advance and not two or three days before the event so that we can plan our work/trips/holidays/annual leave accordingly. My boy, who really wants to go to school that day and go on stage to not only pick up his prize(s) but also because he’s chosen for participate in a performance, was really unhappy with us.

He wanted to go to school on Saturday so badly; he was even willing to forgo the Penang trip! Well, I wish we can but Daddy has to go to Penang for work so he can’t simply cancel the trip. Mommy? Mommy really, really, really wants to tag along with Daddy and sleep in a 5-star hotel for two nights! Sorry dear… Mommy can be quite selfish, especially if it comes to staying in a nice hotel for free! Furthermore, Mommy always has sleepless nights when Daddy goes away for any outstation trips. XD

  1. Poor thing but I agree with you about schools telling parents in advance about stuff.

  7. hmmm, i actually think you should go attend your boy's prize-giving ceremony, as this is very precious once-in-a-lifetime kind of thing.. being able to go to Penang and stay in a 5-star hotel, you can do that anytime right??

  8. @SK,
Can I be boastful? He can go up on stage any year. And we are attending his "other" school ceremony on Tuesday as he got 1st place there.

Any old time going to Penang? I'll have more chances going to Japan than go visiting other states in Malaysia with that husband of mine!
