A Singapore Holiday?

Hmmm... we might settle for a Singapore holiday for June 09 school holiday. Not sure what exactly to do while we are in Singapore, but knowing us, we'll try to keep the expenses to the minimum!

For now, it's choosing the hotels. I've narrowed down these hotels based on affordability and star (don't want something that is too "low class"). Any thoughts on which will be the best choice?

  • Riverview, Chinatown
  • Furama City Centre, Chinatown
  • Peninsula Excelsior, Marina
  • Parkroyal on Kitchener Road, Little India
Since we are stingy, we'll probably take a bus there instead of flying. (Time and cost to travel to the airport + waiting time has to be calculated too, you know).

I guess we'll decide on what exactly to do in Singapore when we get there!

  2. I don't mind visiting S'pore ..just that it's rather expensive with everything double the price (Ringgit vs the SGD).

  3. @Life Ramblings,
have to worry a bit about money so that we don't overspend. :D

dun know whether Ecl wants to meet us or not. :P

    @Mei Teng,
We used to say that it's better to go to Australia than Singaore if not for the more expensive flight ticket to Australia.

  4. Why not!? :D

Peninsula Excelsior will be convenient to move around cause it's right in the city. My hubby's shop nearby too. :)

You can check on my page Cool To Do in Singapore for some fun places to visit and unique ideas.

  6. @ECL,
    Peninsula it is then. :)

Can get free entrance one ah? If can. that'll be awesome! Then can blog extensively about it afterwards. :D

Anything special from Malaysia (or in particular the East Coast that you want?) Have few more months to think over - then I can bring them for you. :)

  7. Wow! ECL can get free entrances for you? Cool! Stay in any hotel is OK, just don't stay in Hotel 81! Haha!

Have you visited Singapore Zoo and Birdpark? It's my favourite place to go. I thought there's half price for Malaysians now?

And Sentosa Island is definitely worth a visit! Aiyo, makes me feel like going too : )

  8. ECL is right, stick to Peninsula Excelsior. My sis in law stayed there recently and she didn't complain about anything, so far. :-) Angie

  10. Naik bus ok je. Very convenient. Just make sure on the way back u go to Larkin 1st then from there take express bus to KL. Its cheaper than taking express bus from Singapore. I went there many times dulu b4 kawen. Ramai member org sana so lepak rumah depa je. Not so sure about places to stay... But I recommend u guys to go to the Night Safari. I luv it there so much n hope u guys like it there too :)

  11. @mikkiel,
cannot shop till drop. Economy not good. :D

    @Farah,
I'm looking forward to a trip to the Zoo & Night Safari. :)

I read in the paper about Night Safari having to shut a popular show because 10 of its staff (unfortunately all Malaysians) were caught for dealing drugs. This is not what I call a Malaysia Boleh attitude. :(

  12. hey there. if ur coming to singapore, depends on what you like. but for the start u can do the singapore flyer, night safari, clarke quay, jurong bird park, esplanade... visit also little india (its quite big actually), chinatown, even the area near bugis (the malay village area).

there's also vivo city and sentosa. and if got time, visit tanjung pagar area for some korean food (i like it here), bugis street (street shopping) or the area around :)

  13. @QuaChee,
thanks for the info. A pity we are there for 3 days only - can't pack too much on such a short vacation! :)

  14. I would third Peninsular! It is right in the city like what ECL said and within 5 minutes walk to the Cityhall MRT station and from there you can plan where you want to go. :)

Want some good reasons why you should visit Singapore? You can go to the Singapore Tourism Board for some ideas also.

  15. lina, why go 3 days only? Go longer lah. Too short cannot enjoy everything! Got ask ECL if got half price adnmission to Zoo and Birdpark for Malaysians or not?

I highly recommend Night Safari and Birdpark - the shows there are world class! You won't regret it! I think even the costly ticket prices are worth it!

Are you going Singapore by bus? I highly recommend Aeroline. Very comfy bus with cushion for your back! The food they provide also not bad. Better than flying : )

  16. @foong,
