Raimie's Class Assessment Result

Yesterday, Raimie brought back his assessment test results. The test was done during the orientation, prior to entering Standard One. It was done mainly to gauge students mastery of Bahasa Malaysia (Malay language) and to sort students according to class.

Raimie's result? He got 59/60. One mark was deducted for his reading. No big deal. The main thing is, he enjoys going to school and meet new friends there. (Even though we said it is no big deal, I admit that we'd be pretty bummed if he didn't make it to the top class, which luckily he did. Huhuhu)

Tonight, he told us that he enjoys being in science class. Science and Maths class are held in English Language in Malaysia School. (I believe, for those in Chinese Schools, they learn the two subjects in both English and Chinese. Correct me if I'm wrong)

  3. Congratz...Raimie seems to be enjoying. That's is great...and he is smart :)

    Learning in both language is certainly crazy. I think English is the way to go. Don't change it back to Malay...

  4. @foong,
    Thanks. :)
    my friends' children studied the subjects in both languages! As if in one is not enough.

    @Yatie,
    will they revert back? It's not good flip-flopping decisions like that because it's the kids that suffer.

    @Jason,
    Maybe but rural kids have trouble studying English alone, so two more subjects in English?

  9. first of all lina, congrats to your son!

    yup! megat learns science and maths in both english and mandarin languages. thank god he loves science subject very much, so i guess it ain't much trouble for him to study that subject.

    i tell you what, lilian (chan) was impressed for me sending megat to a chinese school. it seems that even she was not that braved ;)

    besides that, my senior (chinese) in school who is now based in ipoh, also was dread to think of what's going to happen during her daughters' lower primary school days... both her husband and her are really thinking twice about sending them to a chinese school— but she told the husband if megat and i can cope, she don't see of why they can't. and i am very proud that her husband and her make us as their inspiration! ;)

  10. @ku E,
    Good to hear Megat's coping well. I had thought of sending Raimie to a Chinese School, but Zaini was not too keen about it.
    Kids and parents of Chinese School needs a lot of commitment, that's how I feel. Megat is lucky to have a mom like you. I would have problems coping with Raimie if he's at school until 3-4pm! It'll be canteen food for him! :O
